Roadtrip 2023 Fall : Richland - Bend - Reno - Mammoth Lakes - Henderson - Donkey Heaven - Sedona - Joshua Tree - Paso Robles - St Helena - Brookings - Seaside

Day 17 - Donkey Heaven to Sedona

My last morning relax on my front porch at Donkey Heaven.

That great big beige tank is the water supply for the house. Everybody at this end of Golden Valley seems to have their water delivered.

Salvation for the VW bus.

Kingman old town - railway district.

Kingman finally has a credible coffee shop. Weird name "Liquid Bistro", but the coffee is excellent. They mysteriously have a gleaming coffee roasting machine in their lobby that appears to never have been used. Also weird.

The nicest backyard in Kingman is behind that chain-link fence. Really.

Ode to Bernd and Hilla - with a touch of topographics.

We think this one's en route to a more exciting life.

Peach Springs right - but trucks be warned - you must look fit and trim. Seligman left - ohhh let's go to the Roadkill Cafe.

Classic 66.

The owners of this property are having way too much fun with the concept.

Good ol' boys in Seligman AZ - perhaps the silliest of the Route 66 towns still hanging on.

Even the town grocery has the 66 vibe.

Just who are you lookin' at? "Cause I'm lookiin' at you!

Just what has this bus not done?

Seligman has everything youse need. Trust us.

Down in Ash Fork, there is less of an emphasis on Route 66. Come to think of it, there is not much emphasis at all.

Coors available at the Oasis.

This is the reason we came into Ash Fork - there was an episode of Robert Irvines' "Restaurant Impossible" last year that featured the Ranch House Cafe. We needed to know if Felecia made it. It appears she has.

They are everywhere you want to be. The dread is starting to mount.

There is a certain ignominy to being towed into Williams.

If you missed Seligman, here's another chance at Route 66 kitsch.

Just about all of the dive motels in Williams have had major facelifts. They actually look quite nice.

Told ya.

Dunno about this giant Golden Temple in the middle of freakin' nowhere. Can't make this stuff up.

A plea in the window of NAU campus housing. Can't be too tough - Whole Foods is across the parking lot.

Late afternoon arrrival in Sedona right in the midst of the Day of the Dead Celebrations. It appears the Zombies have also arrived.
